NC Outdoor Adventures, LLC was founded by Scott and Christy Thrift in 2011 with the goal of getting more people outside, regardless of their skill, experience level, or adventure preference. Our adventure guiding company was created out of the obvious need for outdoor recreation experiences and education. Based out of the Blue Ridge mountains in Western North Carolina, NCOA offers over 21 different trips including; tubing, rafting, whitewater kayak instruction, climbing, rappelling, waterfall rappelling, hiking, camping, youth programs, wild edible plant walkabouts plus alpine climbing instruction during the winter months. This diversity in trip offerings makes our family owned company the perfect choice for many families, couples, adventurers, and scouting groups. Outside of these daily trips, NC Outdoor Adventures also has a strong climbing education program taught by certified climbing instructors including courses on transitioning from the gym to the crag, sport leading, traditional leading, multi-pitch instruction, self- rescue and top rope ice climbing during the winter months.

In 2020 our world was devastated by a pandemic. COVID has created a need for new safety and cleaning measures. Our organization went above and beyond to keep our guests and staff safe by creating new cleaning procedures and incorporating an ozone generator cleaning device. This is the same process being used by hospitals to clean and re-use Personal Protective Equipment (ie Face masks). Small business suffered additional financial burdens with group size (capacity) restrictions. For these reasons’ guests will notice a small increase in trip prices as we navigate our small business through the COVID era. We hope you understand and will continue to support our Adventure Guide Service!
