overview
Fall is “leaf peeper” season in the NC/TN Blue Ridge Mountains. The North Carolina and Tennessee border are home to some of the most vibrant fall colors in the USA. This area also has several majestic waterfalls tucked deep within that thick Fall Foliage. NC Outdoor Adventures (NCOA) is bringing guests an opportunity to join us on a tour of the best fall color views we have to offer.
The tour drives guests to various hiking locations among waterfalls, swim holes and mountain tops for a plethora of different views of fall colors. Get extra adventurous and hop in for an early polar plunge.
This adventure trip will explore mountain elevations ranging from 2k to a little over 5k feet, giving guests color changes to see the entire fall season with lunch & a sweet treat included!

Two different hike options allow guests to participate in an easy (hike 2) or moderate (hike 1) hiking experience.
Hike 1 takes place around NC and TN’s tallest peaks, early in the leaf peeping season. This adventure features one of the last working wooden suspension bridges over the Toe River. After some adventuring guests will enjoy a BBQ PICNIC consisting of NC BBQ, slaw and a good ole southern Brunswick stew to warm your bones. Vegetarian options include 2 grilled Portobello mushroom burgers and slaw. The trip ends where it begins with a smores and banana boat bar over a campfire!
Guests should expect easy to moderate hiking, with some steep elevation gain in some areas with this tour.
Hike 2 takes place at the end of NC’s leaf peeping season. Leaf lookers can enjoy two waterfalls with easy hiking that includes benches along the way for those who need a rest before continuing! This trip features a quick stop at a Geyser where guests will enjoy the same amazing BBQ picnic meal mentioned above in hike 1, followed by dessert. This trip will meet at a public parking lot in Marion NC.
