1/2 DAY
“Autumn is a second Spring, where every leaf is a flower” Albert Comus
Fall is “leaf looker” season in the NC/TN Blue Ridge Mountains. The North Carolina and Tennessee border are home to some of the most vibrant fall colors in the USA. This area also has several majestic waterfalls tucked deep within that thick Fall Foliage. NC Outdoor Adventures (NCOA) is bringing guests an opportunity to join us on a tour that drives to various waterfalls, mountain top vistas, balds and wildflower grass lands. This adventure trip will explore mountain elevations ranging from 2k to a little over 5k feet, giving guests color changes to see the entire fall season!
Guests will have the opportunity to see two waterfalls, with swim holes (some may even choose to do a Polar Plunge). After some adventuring guests will enjoy a MOUNTAIN TOP PICNIC at 5,180 feet consisting of NC BBQ, slaw and a good ole southern Brunswick stew to warm your bones. Vegetarian options include 2 grilled Portobello mushroom burgers and slaw. After lunch we will load the shuttle take a very short drive and a short hike to capture an amazing 360-degree view of the Appalachian Mountains! Our next stop on the tour is another waterfall that is located roadside via a very short steep trail. After some exploration and perhaps some swimming (if you can tolerate the cold spring water) we reload for our last stop at a working wooden suspension footbridge crossing the Toe River. This amazing travel tour trip ends where you started at the NCOA River Outpost/Store and Hidden Holler Glampground.
Guests should expect easy to moderate hiking, with some steep elevation gain in some areas.
